Engaging with our MP

Four representatives of Wanstead Climate Action took part in the first meeting between the group and the newly elected MP for Wanstead and Woodford, Calvin Bailey. The meeting took place in the MP’s constituency office in early October 2024. Calvin Bailey was only able to provide a 20 minute slot out of his busy schedule. However, the occasion was a useful opportunity to press home the urgency of the climate crisis and the need for action.

The discussion, which was limited due to the time available, included the issues of fuel poverty and home insulation in the constituency and the Climate and Nature Bill.

Calvin Bailey’s background is in engineering. While serving in the RAF he had to deal in the front line of climate change emergency, including for example hurricane relief. It is hoped that that this will help him understand the importance of the issues on which WCA campaigns, and we plan to continue the dialogue.
