What is a Climate Cafe Listening Circle?
An informal group space with a simple structure in which people speak and listen to one another’s feelings and concerns about our changing climate. It is a tried and tested approach developed by the Climate Psychology Alliance (CPA). There are no formal speakers, action plans or debates but rather space for participants to share what’s on their mind in the face of the climate crisis.
Why have a Listening Circle?
Polls show that concern for the climate and ecological crisis is shared by a majority of UK citizens yet feelings accompanying this can be difficult and complex, leading to division or silence and a sense of powerlessness.
Who for?
Anyone who wants to ‘stop and think’ amidst the clamour – concerned citizen, person of faith, activist or armchair worrier. Local residents Dave Eldridge and Liz Bodycote, who have been trained in the CPA approach, will be participant facilitators and invite you to book a place in November. You can come as a ‘one off’ or may want to return to a future cafe. The group, of around 8 people, will be small enough to allow each person to speak freely and to enable respectful listening.
Saturday 22nd November 10.30am – 12.00pm
